This laboratory includes 15 tables/benches with three workstations and a hub on each. The lab also houses six equipment racks filled with network and systems security equipment. Three of the racks are specifically used for systems security and each includes three P4 2.4 GHz computers and three hubs. Three racks are used for network security. Each rack may contain a Cisco PIX 501, a CheckPoint 225 firewall, a Cisco 2651 XM Router, a Cisco 3000 series router, a Cisco 2924 Switch, a BayNetworks 800 series eight port hub, or McAfee Intrushield 2600 Sensor Applicances. Portable rolling racks (12) are also available for use in all the Networking labs. These rolling racks include: Extreme Summit 200 Layer 3 Switches, Cisco PIX 515 Firewalls, Cisco 2811 Routers, Cisco 2514s and other equipment as it is available. This lab is isolated with an “air-gap” (e.g. No PC or network equipment access to outside networks.) to protect the department and campus infrastructure from inadvertent attack traffic being used as part of classroom experimentation, diagnosis and study.
